1:1 This is the genealogy of Jesus Christ, Son of David, the son of Abraham.
1:2 Abraham begat Isaac and Isaac begat Jacob, Jacob begat Judah and his brothers,
1:3 Judah begot Perez and Zerah of Tamar, Perez begot Hezron, Hezron begat Ram,
1:4 Ram begat Amminadab, Amminadab begat Nahshon, Nahshon begat Salmon,
1:5 Salmon begat Boaz of Rahab, Boaz begot Obed of Ruth, and Obed begat Jesse,
1:6 And Jesse begat David the king. David begat Solomon of the wife of Uriah,
1:7 Solomon begot Rehoboam, Rehoboam begot Abijah, Abijah begat Asa,
1:8 Asa begat Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat begot Joram, Joram begat Uzziah,
1:9 Uzziah begat Jotham, Jotham begat Ahaz, Ahaz begat Hezekiah,
1:10 Hezekiah begat Manasseh, Manasseh begat Amon, Amon begat Josiah,
1:11 Josiah begat Jechoniah and his brothers at the time of the deportation to Babylon.
1:12 After the exile to Babylon, Jechoniah begat Shealtiel, Shealtiel begat Zerubbabel,
1:13 Zerubbabel begat Abihud, Abihud begat Eliakim, Eliakim begat Azor,
1:14 Azor begot Zadok, Zadok begot Akhim, Akhim begat Eliud,
1:15 Eliud begat Eleazar, Eleazar begat Matan, Matan begat Jacob,
1:16 Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, who gave birth to Jesus who is called Christ.
1:17 So all fourteen generations from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the deportation to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to Babylon until the Christ.
